3. The Snowman

"Angst Skvadron plays depressive, psychedelic, alien death metal, or ‘what ever the hell you want to call it’ music!" That's the only way to describe this band as quoted by the band. Angst Skvadron hails from Norway and consists of T. Nefas who is known for his work in Urgehal, Kvist, Vulture Lord, amongst others. The Alien 7" Ep is the newest work from these guys and contains 3 new eerie tracks. Flukt and Sweet Poison full lengths were released earlier this year too but I have yet to hear those, though after this I might have to check them out.

The Hermit is a 2+ minute dark but peaceful ambient intro with some nice atmosphere all around. Thunder, loneliness, phone ringing with no one answering, voices, foot steps. It truly engulfs you in a dark but lonely hermit scenario. The Boats follows with a midtempo and eerie melody filled with deathy vocals. This surely has a touch of dark avantgarde. Haunting yet beautiful in a strange way with a nice solo towards the end. "I am walking in the air," I mean, the Snowman is next. How many bands have covered this? Angst Skvadron does a good job covering this adding in their own somber elements. Though the vocals are not included in this cover, Angst Skvadrom manage to add some black/death vocals here and there and finish the Ep on a high note.

In the end, we get 3 "weird" tracks but good tracks in my opinion. This surely will have you craving for some more of Angst Skvadrom if you haven't heard of them before.
